A charitable campaign Clean Home was held in Gomel Hesed on April 17, 2016. The event was announced two weeks prior and attracted representatives of different generations and community groups. Olga, a Day Center volunteer, encouraged its members to make baskets; canteen’s staff baked sweet treats. Young volunteers from youth leadership programs paid visits to homebound Hesed clients and assisted Hesed staff in arranging apartments of the elderly community members for Pesach: they cleaned windows, balconies, and sanitary rooms, and sorted out the mess. The hosts were very touched and pleased; all of them insisted on joint tea drinking and were willing to share their memories about wartime and evacuation, their relatives and friends. Continuity of generations is certainly of high importance and these 14 volunteers definitely made their contribution.
